The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra, one of the most important pilgrimages in the state, is set to commence from July 1 and continue till July 30. However, this year, keeping devotees’ safety in mind, the state government has decided that only 375 devotees per batch will be allowed to undertake the trek.
A meeting regarding the yatra was held in Reckong Peo under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi.
During the meeting, the minister held detailed discussions with elected representatives and stakeholders from the panchayats of Powari, Purbani and Ribba to ensure a smooth, safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees.
Negi said special emphasis would be laid on maintaining cleanliness and environmental balance throughout the yatra. He added that the district administration would register all local guides accompanying devotees during the trek and issue them ID cards to ensure better coordination.
He further said the yatra was expected to provide employment opportunities to local youth, particularly those engaged in adventure tourism activities. “The yatra will also promote tourism in the district,” he added.
Negi also assured members of the local deity society that their religious sentiments would not be hurt during the yatra.
