Used to do a bit of work in corporate restructuring, corporate `undertaker.

Immediately after he was sacked from UMNO, political pundits and analysts went into overdrive giving their take on the next course of action available and that KJ could possibly take for him to remain relevant in politics in this country.

The announcement by the radio station, HotFM on 9 Feb 2023 that KJ has signed on with them as a member with the team doing the “Bekpes Hot” show that air Monday to Friday, between 6am and 10am obviously caught a lot of people off guard.

Remember KJ playing the role of a taxi driver in a social parody in 2009? A video showing him playing the drums at the Festival Belia Putrajaya in May 2013 was circulated widely on social media. Then he did a video titled `Ponteng’ about absenteeism in government offices in 2017.

After taking on a role in Inspektor Mastura, a 2013 short film for Ikal Mayang, and a short film project helping women tell their stories, in 2015 he stepped behind the camera for the first time to direct a short film, Teguh for the Ikal Mayang.

Khairy has always shown that he belongs to the younger set of people in this country and his participation in all these activities appears to indicate that he is constantly in contact with the common people, connecting to them through various arts and cinematic experience, interacting, engaging and discussing ideas and thoughts.

All these activities, driven by creativity, allowed him to engage in social interactions and convey a message in a compelling way to the public or his target audiences and possibly inspiring the millions of youths out there.

It has tons of visibility.

In 2017, he started and led the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) initiative with about half a million young Malaysians taking part in dialogues, workshops, phone interviews and online surveys and through these, collected over 26,000 ideas from young Malaysians about the future they want.

And being a radio announcer and also in the arts and cinematic experience allow him to express himself politically and on issues and connect and communicate with the public crossing cultures, languages and generations.

The arts and cinematic experience and platform probably would give him the space for him to reach and connect with an even bigger audience than for him to join an existing political party or to start a new party which would have restrained and restrict him from expressing himself freely.

Forget about joining an existing political party or start a new political party. There are already too many political parties in this country.

Knives would be out from those wannabe leaders and potential successors in the existing political parties who has been working and plotting their rise in the party all these years against you if you join them.

Those that are trying to court you to join them in their parties are just basically trying to ride on the coattails of the stickiness that you have build over the years with the youths in this country.

Young people will be eager to hear and listen to what your thoughts are on the future of this country.

And it is no surprise that they will tune into HotFM hoping you could share some of your thoughts for this country moving forward.
