KOTA KINABALU: The new Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme will provide better services to commuters in the city by introducing a more efficient and systematic public transport system.
This was shared during a briefing by Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) chairperson Vivian Wong Shir Yee during a courtesy call to Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah on Thursday.
SBST includes key improvements such as GPS tracking, an e-ticketing system, regulated fare and travel schedules, and mandatory PSV licences for operators.
The programme will feature eight bus routes under the Jesselton Link network, connecting various parts of Kota Kinabalu for a more seamless public transport experience.
Service reliability will be a key focus, with performance indicators ensuring buses operate on schedule and adhere to designated routes.
This transformation is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance public transport infrastructure, with existing bus operators expected to continue their services as usual.
