KL City FC staged a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Terengganu FC, securing a 3-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the Malaysia Cup semi-finals

KUALA Lumpur City FC produced a stunning late comeback to defeat Terengganu FC 2-1 in the second leg of their Malaysia Cup quarter-final.

The victory at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras secured a 3-2 aggregate win and a place in the semi-finals.

Terengganu took the lead in the 20th minute through a spectacular long-range strike from Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid.

The home side, coached by Risto Vidakovic, responded by increasing the pressure but struggled to find an equaliser.

The breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute when import striker Victor Ruiz finished a cross from Mohamad Kamal Azizi Mohamad Zabri.

With the match seemingly headed for extra time, captain Paulo Josue became the hero in the 90th minute.

Josue calmly slotted home after receiving a pass from Ruiz inside the box, sparking wild celebrations among the approximately 2,000 fans.

The 2021 champions now await the winner of the tie between Johor Darul Ta’zim and Melaka FC.

JDT hold a commanding 5-0 lead from the first leg ahead of their second leg on February 22.
