KL driver to settle family debts after RM23.95m Toto jackpot win
PETALING JAYA: A 66-year-old personal driver from Kuala Lumpur has struck the RM23.95 million Supreme Toto 6/58 Jackpot after winning with a set of numbers inspired by his family.
The regular Sports Toto player of 10 years landed the jackpot on Aug 29 with the numbers 3, 5, 6, 10, 20 and 42.
The man, who has played the same combination for years with minor annual changes, bought the winning ticket in Negri Sembilan while spending the weekend at his daughter’s home.
He said each number carried a personal significance.
Number three represented his three children, while five referred to the five members of his immediate family. Six represented his six grandchildren, while 10 and 20 corresponded to his wedding date, Oct 20.
The final number, 42, represented the number of years he had been married.
“I had to change one of the numbers from five to six when I got my sixth grandchild this year. He is the one who delivered the wealth to me,” he said.
The winner said he discovered his win while having dinner and immediately asked his daughter to verify the results.
“When I saw the numbers while having dinner, I immediately stopped eating and asked my daughter to check the result for me. She quickly downloaded the Toto Mobile App to verify the ticket,” he said.
After scanning the ticket through the app, his daughter confirmed that it was the jackpot-winning ticket worth RM23,945,954.40.
The news prompted an immediate celebration among the family, with the winner and his wife describing themselves as overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude.
The winner collected the prize accompanied by his daughter, who said her father had long promised to help the family if he ever won a jackpot.
According to his daughter, he had said he would use the winnings to settle outstanding loans and debts owed by family members.
The winner confirmed that he planned to fulfil that promise, saying he would settle his family members’ debts and save the remaining money for his retirement.
