The search and rescue (SAR) operation for the sinkhole incident in Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur entered its 6th day today but sadly, the 48-year-old victim, known as Vijayaletchumy, has yet to be found.

Yesterday, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) deployed some familiar faces for the SAR operation: 2 dogs from its K9 Unit, Frankie and Denti.

Previously, the English Springer Spaniel dogs made national news when they were deployed in the SAR operation after the landslide at Father’s Organic Farm in Batang Kali, Selangor in December 2022.

Yesterday, as shared by BERNAMA on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Frankie and Denti were brought to the Masjid India sinkhole at 5pm to assist with locating the victim.

Both dogs entered the sinkhole with their handlers and conducted searches for about 10 to 15 minutes.

The appearance of the 2 dogs from the Bomba K9 Unit attracted wide attention from the public and media present at the scene.

The victim, 48-year-old Vijayaletchumy from Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh in India was on holiday with her family in Malaysia and was walking towards a nearby temple for breakfast when the incident occurred.
