Led by KLWC executive director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, the group aims to encourage people to remain physically active, pursue personal goals and maintain healthy lifestyles as they grow older.

KL WELLNESS CITY (KLWC) and Wellous have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote healthy ageing and active lifestyles through sports, community engagement and wellness awareness.

The collaboration was formalised during the launch of Wellous’ “Age Has No Limits” initiative at the two-day Make Health Easier Wellness Fest 2026, held at KL Wellness City Gallery in Bukit Jalil on Oct 24 and 25.

The initiative brings together seven Malaysian HYROX athletes aged between 50 and 69 for a nine-month programme running from October 2026 to June 2027.

Led by KLWC executive director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, the group aims to encourage people to remain physically active, pursue personal goals and maintain healthy lifestyles as they grow older.

The athletes are Tan Ay Bing, 69; Dr Yeap Jing Eng, 65; Terence Poon, 64; Yeap Jing Ching, 62; Yeap Jing Nee, 59; Tiew, 50; and Constance Chow, 50.

Under the initiative, the athletes will document their training, competition preparations, recovery routines and lifestyle practices, sharing their experiences through digital content, sporting events and community engagement activities.

Tiew said the initiative was intended to challenge conventional perceptions of ageing and encourage people of all generations to prioritise their health.

“I believe that your 50s can be the new 30s when you continue to prioritise your health, stay active and challenge yourself. Age should not define what we believe we can achieve. What matters is how we take care of ourselves and continue to pursue a better quality of life,” he said.

Tiew said the team planned to compete in Singapore, Sanya and Kuala Lumpur, followed by further races in the first half of 2027, as they worked towards the HYROX World Championship in Hong Kong in June 2027.

Led by KLWC executive director Dato’ Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, the group aims to encourage people to remain physically active, pursue personal goals and maintain healthy lifestyles as they grow older.

He added that all seven athletes had secured qualifying slots for the championship and would represent Malaysia at the international event.

The initiative also aims to encourage younger people to maintain their physical fitness alongside their digital activities.

“This initiative is not about suggesting that everyone needs to compete in HYROX. It is about inspiring people of all ages to take that first step, whether through regular exercise, healthier daily habits or a new personal challenge,” Tiew said.

The collaboration may also include community activities such as training sessions with the athletes, healthy ageing talks and an “Age Has No Limits Challenge”. The organisers said these proposed activities were intended to encourage greater public participation in health and wellness initiatives.

KLWC said the partnership aligned with its approach to wellness, which extends beyond medical care to include preventive health, physical activity, lifestyle choices and community participation.

For Wellous, the initiative supports its “Make Health Easier” philosophy by using the athletes’ personal experiences to encourage healthier habits and greater awareness of wellbeing.

Both organisations said they hoped the collaboration would promote a broader understanding of healthy ageing, with an emphasis on maintaining mobility, independence and quality of life throughout adulthood.
