KLIA check-in counters K and L closed for 90 minutes after roof leaks during heavy rainfall, with core airport functions remaining operational
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) reported roof leakages at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) following exceptionally heavy rainfall today.
The incident began at 4.14 pm, coinciding with an Aerodrome Warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
Check-in counters K and L were affected by the water leakage but reopened within one-and-a-half hours after clearance and safety checks.
MAHB confirmed core airport functions including passenger processing, terminal movement and key systems remained unaffected.
The Aerotrain and baggage handling system continued normal operations throughout the incident.
Technical checks are ongoing while some support functions remain under close monitoring.

MAHB will conduct a technical assessment to determine the root cause of the leakages.
The investigation will examine contributing factors from today’s extreme weather conditions.
