KLIA shooting suspect remanded for seven days

PETALING JAYA: The suspect in the shooting at KLIA Terminal 1 on Sunday morning has been remanded for seven days.

Berita Harian reported that a magistrates’ court in Kota Bahru allowed the police’s application for the 38-year-old’s remand this morning.

Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid issued the remand order until April 22.

Police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 8 of the Firearms Act (Heavier Penalty) 1971 for the unlawful possession of a firearm.

In the early morning incident, the suspect fired two shots at his wife at the airport’s arrival hall but missed.

One of the shots hit her bodyguard, who is being treated in hospital.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the incident stemmed from a personal issue and was unrelated to terrorist activities or groups. - FMT
