Fabio Carvalho scored a controversial 98th-minute winner for Liverpool over Newcastle at Anfield on Wednesday.
Toon looked set to secure a point after a spirited display on Merseyside.
The visitors went ahead after 38 minutes when £60m signing Alexander Isak scored his first goal for the club with an excellent finish.
Eddie Howe's side put up a stubborn resistance but they were eventually breached after 61 minutes by Roberto Firmino, who converted smartly from Mohamed Salah's pass.
It looked set for another disappointing home draw for Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp's side sealed another classic late victory when Carvalho scrambled the ball home.
Newcastle will feel aggrieved with the result as the referee had only allocated five minutes of injury-time, yet Carvalho scored his equaliser with 97:30 on the clock.
The Reds are now fifth on the table with eight points, seven behind leaders Arsenal.
Asked if Liverpool needed the win to continue their momentum, Klopp said: "It's massive, massive we will remember it for years and years.
"We had once a 3-2 at Newcastle where Divock Origi scored late. I'm not 100% sure they all believed until the end but from now on we have to as we showed again it is possible."
