MUDA Kluang was officially dissolved when all 100 members led by its leader, Shikh Mohd Farkhann, left the party and joined UMNO.
Shikh Mohd said the decision was taken because he saw UMNO as a very inclusive party, open to accepting new faces and sincere in their struggle.
He said UMNO also provides opportunities to guide those with potential and the desire to serve in facing the upcoming elections.
"With our participation in UMNO, MUDA in Kluang has been dissolved as a whole," he said in a statement.
The decision casts doubt on the status of MUDA, especially in Kluang, which has been in question after almost a year of silence.
"If MUDA contests solo in the current situation, it will face difficulties because many young voters label this party as lacking a clear stance and direction.
"In fact, some policies are seen as compromising too much. Therefore, even if MUDA contests independently, it will be very difficult to immediately reverse this negative perception that has been formed.
"The road to independence is long and challenging, possibly taking ten years or more, with a need to go through a phase of resource shortage and grassroots rebuilding.
"It is not only difficult, but also requires very strong grassroots support," he said, who took a stand to join UMNO Youth.
At the same time, he is confident that UMNO Youth will continue to hold on to the spirit of openness and inclusiveness, ready to accept talent from young people and various backgrounds and sectors.
Shikh Mohd also advised MUDA that if it intends to move independently to consider rebranding the party with a clear mission and vision.
"Although the risk of starting over is high, it is still better than remaining in the mess it is in now with one parliamentary seat and one Johor State Assembly seat, as if it were an NGO and not a political party," he said. – February 6, 2026
