Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government Employees Co-operative Society Berhad (Kopeks) is looking into developing its lands into affordable housing.
Its Chairman Jaibit Jaudin said Kopeks is working on as a part of its long-term plan. The cooperative has identified two of its lands in Manggatal here and in Lahad Datu which have the potential for such purpose.
“We believe this (affordable housing) is the best idea in our effort to develop these two lands because it can benefit both the cooperative and members who can purchase an affordable home below the market price,” he said, adding the cooperative is currently also looking at potential partners to develop the two lands for the purpose.
Jaibit said this at the Kopeks’ 60th anniversary dinner last Friday, which was officiated by Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) Sabah branch Deputy Director Sairah Basrin.
