Last week, we reported of a Facebook page named Public Health Malaysia condemning the viral song ‘APT’ for its supposedly lewd and suggestive lyrics.
Unfortunately, the controversy has since attracted more unwanted attention from overseas, with the Ministry of Health (MOH) finding itself being dragged into the drama too.
Koreaboo accuses MOH of slamming ‘APT’
Koreaboo, which is a wildly popular website that covers about all things K-pop related, recently released an article titled ‘Malaysian Government Slams BLACKPINK Rosé’s “APT.” And Warns Parents’.
In the article, it wrote that “the Malaysian Ministry of Health has reportedly raised concerns over BLACKPINK Rosé and Bruno Mars‘s mega-hit ‘APT’” and that the song was labelled as “potentially harmful”.
Naturally, this was bound to attract attention from Koreanboo readers, who didn’t hold back in mocking MOH for their narrow-mindedness.
MOH responds
Following the stir online, MOH released an official statement clarifying its stance on the matter.
In the statement, it said that “any statements regarding (Koreaboo’s) article attributed to MOH have not been issued or authorized by the Government of Malaysia.”
The Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia wishes to clarify that any statements regarding this article attributed to MOH have not been issued or authorized by the Government of Malaysia.

“Please be cautious of unverified information circulating online, as it can lead to confusion and misinformation among the members of the public,” it wrote.
For the record, Public Health Malaysia is merely a Facebook page and has NO ties with MOH.
In the comment section, it was Malaysians’ turn to hit back at Koreaboo.
Many also called for MOH to file a lawsuit against Koreaboo for defamation.
