Kota Kinabalu: The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILTM) Sabah recently paid a courtesy visit to Korridor Utility Sabah (KUS). CILTM Sabah was represented by Chairman Daniel Doughty, Datuk Dr. Ramli Amir, and Ir. Alan Wong, and was received by Joharin Bin Zanudin, General Manager of KUS, who briefed the delegation on the corporation’s mandate and direction.

The meeting was held to better understand KUS’s role and to explore opportunities for collaboration in the application of way-leave processes and utility planning, particularly as they relate to the logistics and transport industry.

Korridor Utility Sabah (KUS) had been established as a One-Stop Agency (OSA) to propel the development of the state’s utility corridor.

By centralising the coordination of planning, regulation, and data management for utility infrastructure, KUS served as the single reference point for utility providers, developers, and government stakeholders.

This integrated approach would help streamline approvals, reduce duplication, avoid costly delays, and ensure that utilities are planned in sync with roadworks, ports, industrial zones, and urban development projects.

With KUS at the centre, Sabah is better positioned to build infrastructure that is efficient, future-ready, and aligned with the state’s long-term economic goals.

“The establishment of KUS is a bold step in transforming how Sabah plans its future.

Utilities are the hidden lifelines of development when planned well, they power industries, connect communities, and drive logistics efficiency.

CILTM Sabah is proud to bring our pool of Sabahan experts to support KUS in this mission of building smarter, stronger, and future-ready infrastructure.” said Doughty.

He further emphasised that CILTM Sabah has an abundance of Sabahan professionals, resource persons, and subject matter experts who are ready to serve KUS’s needs in enhancing planning processes.

The pool of expertise positions CILTM Sabah as a strong partner in ensuring utility planning aligns seamlessly with the logistics and transport ecosystem.

The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration and coordination between KUS and CILTM Sabah. Both organisations share a commitment to integrated planning, where utilities are not treated as an afterthought but as a central pillar of infrastructure and transport development.

Through strategic cooperation, KUS and CILTM Sabah aim to support Sabah’s future growth with infrastructure that is cohesive, efficient, and sustainable, laying the foundation for an economy that is robust, competitive, and people-centred.
