
Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) has appointed Datuk Tan Kai Teck as the association’s advisor.
KKJA Chairman Jimmy Goh presented Tan with his appointment certificate during the association’s courtesy call at the latter’s office, here, Monday.
Tan is a well-known local entrepreneur, businessman and community leader.
As a licensed auctioneer, he serves as the PG Actfast Auction (Sabah) Sdn Bhd Chairman, which is a leading auction house in East Malaysia and for top domestic financial institutions such as Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank and Maybank as well as local authorities in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Kudat, among others.
He is involved in many industrial fields and investment projects, which business scope includes local fruits and dried fruit products, seafood, birds nest, snacks, and souvenirs and local herbal packaging, trade and export, logistics and transportation, restaurants and catering.
He is also the Acting President of the Sabah Small and Medium Enterprises Association, Advisor of Kota Kinabalu Business and Health Association, Advisor of Sabah Kota Kinabalu Hainan Association, President of the Kota Kinabalu Charity Society, and Asia Pacific Top Outstanding President Committee International Consultant.
Jimmy praised Tan’s enthusiasm for the society over the years and for his effort in helping to promote the local Chinese community’s economy in addition to promoting Chinese culture and religion.
“The KKJA is privileged to have Tan as our advisor. His presence will certainly improve the welfare of our members,” he said.
During the courtesy visit, Tan not only hosted the KKJA committee members to a luncheon, but also arranged an auction sharing session.
PG Actfast Auction (Sabah) Sdn Bhd Auctioneer / Manager Cynthia Chin briefed the KKJA committee members on the basic knowledge, procedures and precautions of auctions, and then conducted a mock auction.
Also present were MIR Dental Clinic Dean Dr Tan Kai Seng, KKJA Deputy Chairperson Nancy Lai, Vice Chairman Peter Kwan, Secretary Teo Jinn Jiun, Treasurer Yvonne Ho, Welfare Officer Stephanie Lee, Liaison Officer Chu Pying Ting, and committee member Larry Ralon, Lo Teck Loong and Yap.
