Kota Kinabalu: The two-year project to repair sewage pipes along Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Kudat is expected to finish earlier.
Assistant Public Works Minister Datuk Limus Jury said new technology has been adopted in the project that is initially scheduled to complete on Nov 9, 2023.
“The (new) method does not involve dredging works, instead a ‘Cured In Place Pipe’ (CIPP) is used which has long been adopted in developed countries and also in Peninsular Malaysia.
“Based on work progress and performance on site, this project can be completed earlier than scheduled,”
He said this during question time at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, Wednesday, in response to Likas Assemblyman Tan Lee Fatt who asked about the status of repair projects implemented in Likas.
For the record, the Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Kudat sewage pipe repair project, costing RM 19,922,229, started on Nov 11 last year.
Additionally, Limus said the eight-month project on sinkhole repair works at Jalan Telok Likas (KM1.730), which started in November last year, has been completed.
“It was completed on July 28, 2022 and the ‘Certificate of Practical Completion’ was handed over to the contractor the next day,” he said.
Limus said the project costed RM 1,668,359, funded by the Federal Government.
