Earlier, a photo went viral on social media showing a vehicle owner filling a jerry can with petrol while at a petrol station in Johor.
The individual was also accused of first refuelling his vehicle with RON95 petrol before transferring the same fuel into the jerry can, according to Sinar Harian.

The incident sparked public outrage, with many expressing frustration that such actions are still happening, especially when foreigners are seen “stocking up” on Malaysia’s subsidised RON95 petrol. There have also been growing calls for stricter enforcement.
In response, the Johor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has launched an investigation into the viral case involving a vehicle with a Singaporean license plate allegedly refuelling with RON95 petrol.
“KPDN Johor is aware of the viral image showing a foreign-registered vehicle, believed to be owned by a Singaporean, refuelling with RON95 at a petrol station in Johor Bahru,” the ministry said.
Johor KPDN Director, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, said that based on the viral images, the incident allegedly occurred at a petrol station in Iskandar Puteri.
She added that a detailed investigation is underway to pinpoint the exact location and determine whether any existing regulations were violated.
