The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will hold nearly 1,900 sales nationwide during Ramadan to help ease the cost of living for the public.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will organise 1,898 Madani Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) sessions nationwide throughout Ramadan.

Its minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said the programme offers essential fresh and dry goods for iftar and traditional kuih preparations.

He stated that PJRM is a key government intervention to help ease the cost of living and address community needs ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“Expenses will certainly increase, therefore programmes such as PJRM are important as an option for obtaining essential goods at prices lower than the market rate,” Armizan said in a Facebook post.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Finance Ministry for approving a special allocation to institutionalise the PJRM initiative.

Armizan also shared details of a ground visit to a supermarket in Pandan Indah, Selangor, which is implementing the sales programme.

The supermarket’s manager reported securing a larger supply of cooking oil since the implementation of the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System.

In January alone, the premises received 20,400 packets of subsidised cooking oil.
