PETALING JAYA: KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s net profit rose 26.7% to RM103.92 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q2’26), from RM82.02 million a year earlier, driven by higher patient visits and surgeries, as well as an improved case mix.
Revenue for the quarter increased 16.9% to RM1.20 billion from RM1.02 billion previously. The group said the growth was largely contributed by an increase in patient visits and surgeries performed during the quarter, alongside an improved case mix.
For the first half of 2026, KPJ’s net profit attributable to shareholders climbed 24.7% to RM173.57 million from RM139.21 million in the corresponding period last year, while revenue grew 12.9% to RM2.25 billion from RM1.99 billion.
The group said the higher revenue for the six-month period was mainly driven by an increase in patient visits and surgeries. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 12% to RM513.6 million, while profit before tax increased 18% to RM269.6 million.
Its Malaysian operations, which contributed about 99% of group revenue, recorded a 17% increase in quarterly revenue to RM1.18 billion. Quarterly EBITDA for the segment rose 12% to RM271.2 million, while profit before tax increased 22% to RM156.5 million.
For the six-month period, the Malaysian segment’s revenue rose 13% to RM2.22 billion, with EBITDA increasing 9% to RM494.9 million and profit before tax up 13% to RM260.1 million, also supported by higher patient visits and surgeries.
As at June 30, 2026, KPJ’s total assets stood at RM8.26 billion, up from RM8.05 billion at the end of 2025, mainly due to higher deposits, bank and cash balances, as well as trade and other receivables in line with increased hospital activities. Total liabilities, meanwhile, edged down to RM5.02 billion from RM5.04 billion, primarily due to lower lease liability balances.
The healthcare group also declared a second interim single-tier dividend of 1 sen per share for FY26, payable on July 17, 2026.
