The Ministry of Education (KPM) will open applications for the recruitment of 20,000 Education Service Officers (Pegawai Perkhidmatan Pendidikan, PPP) Grade DG9 on a contract basis (Contract of Service, CoS) from 2 to 20 March to meet the demand for teachers nationwide.
Director-General of Education, Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad, said the official announcement for the recruitment will be made on 23 February, while the screening and interview process is scheduled from 27 April to 14 May 2026 in collaboration with the Education Service Commission (SPP).
“The large-scale teacher recruitment initiative is part of KPM’s early preparation for the Malaysia Education Blueprint (RPM) 2026–2035 and to support the voluntary enrolment of six-year-old children into Year One starting next year,” he stated.
Dr. Mohd Azam added that the recruitment process will ensure that selected candidates undergo professional training at the Teacher Education Institutes (IPG) in their respective specializations to maintain high teaching standards.
“This initiative reflects the Government’s ongoing commitment under the Kerajaan MADANI framework to enhance the quality of education in Malaysia. KPM is committed to ensuring adequate teaching personnel and improving the nation’s education standards,” he said.
The recruitment drive will see approximately 20,000 new DG9 Education Service Officers appointed on a contract basis to fulfill the country’s teaching needs.
Eligibility Requirements for CoS Teacher Applications 2026
Candidates interested in applying for the 2026 Contract of Service (CoS) teacher recruitment must meet certain general and academic requirements as follows:
General Requirements:
- Must be a Malaysian citizen.
- Physically healthy and actively involved in extracurricular activities during university.
- Maximum age of 40 years as of the application closing date.
- Body Mass Index (BMI) not exceeding 32.5.
Academic Requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized public or private university, or from an accredited overseas institution recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
- Minimum CGPA of 2.50.
- At least a credit (Grade C) in Malay Language at SPM level or an equivalent qualification.
Ineligible Candidates:
- Graduates of Education programs.
- Interim contract teachers or teachers previously appointed under SPP contracts.
- Individuals who have been dismissed from public service or are currently declared bankrupt.
