Russian leader Vladimir Putin is planning a trip to China, following hard on the heels of US President Donald Trump’s visit, according to reports from Moscow.
Preparations for the visit have been finalized and agreed upon, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian state news agency TASS on Friday.
There would be an official announcement "very, very soon" in consultation with Beijing, he explained, adding that Moscow did not want to rush things.
Earlier, the South China Morning Post had reported, citing unnamed sources, that the visit was scheduled for May 20. The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not confirm the date when asked.
US President Donald Trump set off from Beijing on Friday following a state visit to China, which lasted several days.
Putin last visited Beijing last year, attending a military parade held to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
