Kris Aquino returns to screen with Netflix campaign

MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino is making her return to the screen through a new collaboration with Netflix. This marks her first major on-camera project since stepping back from regular show business work due to health concerns.

The streaming platform on Friday unveiled Aquino as its official C.H.I.K.A., or "Chief Head of Insights and Kontent Analysis," in a promotional campaign which highlighted several Filipino titles available on the service.

In the video advertisement, Aquino takes on the role of a demanding but witty boss, offering her trademark candid critiques and suggestions on visual effects, action sequences and styling.

"Hello everyone! Good morning! Ako, ang bago ninyong boss, the new Netflix C.H.I.K.A. Are you ready para simulan na natin ang ating August campaign?" Aquino says at the start of the video. She then playfully critiques a winter scene, saying it needs to feel colder.

"Is that supposed to be winter? Kulang eh. I want it to feel like there's something chilly. Parang giniginaw talaga sila. I want to feel the falling snow," she says.

Aquino also challenges the editor to make an action sequence more intense, saying she wants "every suntok to count," before turning her attention to a show's wardrobe.

"In my opinion, sana mas may style," she says, later expressing approval after the revisions by declaring, "I love it. Ang bongga."

The campaign features clips from the Filipino titles "A Secret in Prague," "Blood vs Duty" and "The Master Cutter," showing them enhanced through post-production effects and filters following Aquino's fictional feedback.

Closing the advertisement, Aquino tells viewers, "We make a great team," before approving the finished clips as "Kris Aquino approved" and inviting audiences to watch them on Netflix.

The commercial marks Aquino's latest public appearance after years of limited engagements while undergoing treatment for multiple autoimmune conditions. Often referred to as the "Queen of All Media," Aquino has remained active on social media but has largely stayed away from TV and film projects in recent years.
