MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino is preparing to be discharged from the hospital and is setting her sights on a careful return to work, including a video podcast centered on interviews, cooking and products she personally uses.
Aquino shared the update in an Instagram post on Sunday, where she spoke openly about her health, recovery and new priorities after weeks of confinement. The post included a video reel of her opening gift boxes, looking noticeably more energetic and stronger, alongside her son, Bimby.
“I’m still in the hospital, hopefully discharged tomorrow… I feel like I’m still me, but I know myself better, I’ve learned which moments to treasure and that love and friendship need to be reciprocal if you want them to last,” Aquino wrote in the caption.
As part of her recovery, Aquino said swimming will play a role in her physical therapy. She asked followers for help locating indoor swimming pools in rehabilitation centers, hotels or private residences near major hospitals in Metro Manila.
“This is my life’s new reality. But in order for me to continue being brave, I need to do slowly what I love until I am stronger,” she wrote.
Aquino also detailed her hopes for a video podcast, which she first hinted at in late January.
Her goal, she said, is to do “once a week sit down interviews with people who for me are interesting."
“There’s a team doing my hair and makeup, I have a skeleton crew, a two cam setup shooting me and the closeups of the others as well as product shots and I’m excited to start sharing new home cooking recipes made simpler with all of you. Happy viewing. #Brave #lovelovelove,” Aquino added.
In the video, Aquino subtly showed the Port-a-Cath on her chest and expressed gratitude to her doctors and medical staff. She recalled undergoing the procedure while fully awake.
“I was awake the whole time. I felt it when they made the incision, but it was nothing. That’s life. I just really have a high pain tolerance — that’s why I was able to endure it,” she said.
Aquino said she has been hospitalized for six weeks and expects to go home within days.
“For now my priority is my health,” she wrote.
Reflecting on relationships, Aquino shared advice shaped by her illness.
“There is no perfect relationship but if you are willing to live with and learn to laugh at each other’s quirks then you have a chance to go the distance,” she said.
She also shared about the value of staying in touch, noting that “nobody is ever too busy to carve out a 10 minute text exchange or a 5 minute call to check on each other.”
Known as the “Queen of All Media,” Aquino officially returned to the Philippines on September 13, 2024, after spending over two years in the United States for medical treatment.
