- The move comes after President Donald Trump fired Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security in March following a 13-month tenure.
- Noem's dismissal from Homeland Security stemmed from backlash over two civilian killings in Minnesota during deportation efforts and a controversial $220 million ad campaign.
- Markwayne Mullin was appointed to replace Noem as Homeland Security Secretary following her dismissal.
