Kota Kinabalu: Team KRMTS Liverpool Fans emerged champions in the inaugural Kelab Rekreasi Mimpaagat Tokou Sabah Shield football tournament which concluded at the Penampang Stadium on Thursday.
The four-corner league football carnival also featured KRMTS Manchester United Fans, Mimpaagat Titans and Rest Of Mimpaagat.
The teams with players aged between 45 to 65 years old each played three games with a duration of 25 minutes per game.
KRMTS Liverpool Fans led by Victor Disimon, who was also the organising chairman, with two wins and one draw pipped Rest Of Mimpaagat, who only managed one win and one draw for the title.
John Linus of Mimpaagat Titans was named the best player while best goalkeeper and top scorer awards went to KRMTS Liverpool Fans’ Brandon @Aming and Clarence @ Joguk respectively.
Victor said the main purpose was to promote a healthy lifestyle and building of friendships among the veterans.
Meanwhile, the prizes were given away by the club’s advisor Datuk Robert Stidi, chairman Aloysius Wong and patron Sylvester Chin, who also urged veterans aged above 40 to join the club for various recreational and charity activities.
