KTMB adds extra ETS services for Deepavali travellers

KERETAPI Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will provide two additional Electric Train Services (ETS) to accommodate increased travel demand during the Deepavali festive period, the rail operator announced today.

The extra services will run between Padang Besar and Kuala Lumpur Sentral from 17 to 22 October, offering an additional 630 seats daily. Tickets for these trains will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, 7 October.

“In total, 3,780 additional seats will be available over the six days, including business class coaches,” KTMB said in a statement. “This initiative is aimed at meeting high passenger demand during the festive season while helping to ease road congestion for those returning to their hometowns.”

The additional ETS from Padang Besar to KL Sentral will depart at 11.05am and is expected to arrive at 4.30pm. The return service from KL Sentral to Padang Besar will leave at 5.00pm and arrive at 10.20pm.

Passengers are encouraged to purchase their tickets via the KTMB Mobile app (KITS) or through the official KTMB website. Payments can be made using the KTM Wallet for a faster and more convenient checkout process.

“Travellers are advised to plan their journeys and purchase tickets early to enjoy lower fares under the flexi-pricing system and avoid last-minute congestion,” the statement added. “Passengers are also reminded to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure, as boarding gates will close five minutes before the train leaves.” - October 4, 2025
