KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has issued a reminder to passengers of its Electric Train Service (ETS) and intercity trains to check their ticket details carefully and arrive at stations at least 30 minutes early.
This is to avoid being denied access to the platform’s paid area during the busy Aidilfitri travel period from March 17 to 29.
Acting general manager of KTMB ETS and Intercity Services Mohd Azhar Abu Bakar advised passengers to follow KTMB’s official social media channels and download its mobile apps for the latest updates.
He said KTMB has conducted maintenance on all trains to ensure smooth operations and passenger comfort throughout the festive season.
Additional personnel have also been stationed at key hubs like KL Sentral, JB Sentral, Alor Setar, Ipoh and Butterworth to assist with crowd control.
Mohd Azhar revealed that KTMB allocated over 251,000 tickets for Aidilfitri travel this year.
This total includes 71,728 tickets for added train services on top of the approximately 180,000 tickets for normal trips, which have all sold out.
“Therefore, we have added additional trains with 71,728 tickets. That brings the total to over 251,000, making it our biggest ticket sale ever,” he said.
