The Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) state by-election witnessed the simultaneous opening of two early voting centers today at 8 am. These centers are located at the multipurpose hall of the Royal Malaysian Police College and the 4th Infantry Division of the Royal Signals Regiment.

The early voting phase for this state by-election is crucial, involving 625 police personnel and 238 military personnel and their spouses. These individuals will exercise their voting rights to select the new representative for the State Assembly. Both early voting centers will operate until 5 pm, ensuring ample time for all eligible voters to cast their ballots.

In this by-election, four candidates are competing for the position: Pang Sock Tao representing Pakatan Harapan, Khairul Azhari Saut from Perikatan Nasional, Hafizah Zainuddin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia, and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin. The diversity of candidates reflects the democratic process and the range of political ideologies in the constituency.

The need for this by-election arose due to the unfortunate passing of the incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, aged 58, due to cancer on March 21. His demise created a vacancy that requires filling to ensure effective representation and governance for the constituents of KKB.

The KKB state constituency boasts a significant electorate with 40,226 registered voters. This sizable voting population underscores the importance of this by-election and the impact it will have on the local political landscape.

Looking ahead, the Election Commission has scheduled the polling day for the state by-election on Saturday, signaling the next phase in this electoral process. This day will be crucial as voters across the constituency will participate in shaping the future leadership and direction of their region.

As the by-election unfolds, stakeholders, candidates, and voters alike anticipate the outcome and its implications for KKB's political trajectory. The democratic exercise of voting serves as a cornerstone of governance, ensuring that the voices and choices of the people are duly represented and respected.
