KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 3— Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad recommends the government establish a body to oversee the people’s policies and incentives, announced during Budget 2024 last week.

The former health minister said the body should promote transparency, guarantee that those eligible for government assistance receive their benefits, and closely monitor the policy’s implementation.

“I want to ask the relevant ministries… how will all these commendable policies be monitored when there is no dedicated body tasked to monitor such policies and ensure their progress?

“This is something lacking from the government,” he said when debating the Supply Bill 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Dr Dzulkefly also cited the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) in the previous government, tasked with developing the National Transformation Programme and coordinating its implementation.

First established in 2009, it was later dissolved in March 2017.

To elaborate further, he emphasised the need for regular reporting to prevent issues like unjustified spending.

Dr Dzulkefly pointed out that one of the allocated funds, amounting to RM44 billion, is provided as a loan financing guarantee for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“However, the question remains…is the targeted group actually receiving these benefits, or are individuals being left out of government assistance?” he asked.
