Kuasa to share power with PBM for GE15

KOTA KINABALU – Newly-formed socialist Parti Kuasa Rakyat (Kuasa) is set to merge with Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) under a strategic partnership for the upcoming 15th General Election.

Kuasa president Kamarazaman Yaakob said the partnership will see PBM updating its party constitution to incorporate Kuasa’s policies.

Kamarazaman, who is also the elder brother of prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the party’s supreme council decided to join forces with PBM as he sees the party sharing the same struggles with them.

“During the launch of Kuasa on October 10, last year, we stated that our party is friendly to Barisan Nasional and the federal government.

“We also saw PBM based on the same struggles. Based on these common goals, Kuasa has decided to merge with PBM.

“Another reason is that both parties are progressive and should form a merger to strengthen our goals further.

“I hope our party’s (policies) could be incorporated into PBM’s constitution.

“The dissolution of the party will be decided by the party’s top leadership,” he said at a press conference here today.

Also present were PBM president and Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng, and Lahad Datu MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi who had announced joining PBM, earlier.

Meanwhile, Sng said PBM’s political bureau has decided to welcome all the Kuasa members into the party.

“From our political bureau (meeting), we will hold a meeting to discuss a power-sharing formula with the party,” he said.

Sng said under the merger, all Kuasa members will be joining PBM and discussions will be made on how the party could expand in Malaysia.

“Kuasa will not be dissolved. But as we (PBM) are currently undertaking its party elections, we are also looking into ways on how to incorporate Kuasa into the party’s constitution,” he said.

Sng said the party is set to contest in all state and federal elections the party currently holds namely Ampang, Tebrau, Julau and Lahad Datu. – The Vibes, August 28, 2022
