SIX suspects connected to a fatal shooting incident that occurred at around 5.30am yesterday have been remanded for between four and seven days starting today, to assist with police investigations.
Assistant Registrar of the Court, Heng Yi Min, granted a four-day remand for three of the suspects—reported to be friends of the deceased—until April 30, while the remaining three suspects have been remanded for seven days, until May 4.
All six suspects are being represented by lawyers Russel Lim and Zoe Chan from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
Padawan District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the suspects, aged between 25 and 45, were arrested at various locations between 4.00pm and 5.30pm yesterday. Police also seized a car and a pistol along with ten bullets during the operation.
"With these arrests, we successfully solved the case in under 24 hours, including the apprehension of the main suspect," he said.
He added that preliminary investigations indicate the group was involved in the incident, though the motive is still under investigation. - April 27, 2025
