Aashirya Vashisht, a student of Cambridge International School Kullu, has been selected to represent Kullu district in ‘Prerana’, a week-long residential programme to be held at The Vernacular School at Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat. Aashirya’s journey to this national platform began with her participation in a declamation contest on the theme ‘Vision for Viksit Bharat-2047’ during the ‘Prerana Utsav’ held at her school. Her compelling oratory skills earned her a spot in the district-level event at JNV Bandrol, where 15 girls and 15 boys from various schools in Kullu district competed.

Aashirya expressed gratitude towards her mentors and teachers. “They provided me with this platform and unwavering support. I am excited to learn and grow at Prerana,” she added.

Cambridge School press secretary Pushpinder Thakur elaborated on the rigorous selection process. “At the school-level Prerana Utsav, one boy and one girl were selected based on leadership, social responsibility and passion for shaping the nation’s future. At the district level, a personal interview of 30 students led to the final selection of two participants and two backups for the programme,” he added.

In Vadnagar, the students will be guided by eight mentors from eminent institutions, including experts from the IIM-Ahmedabad, IIT-Gandhinagar, the Indian Knowledge System and the Archaeological Survey of India.

Prerana, launched by the Union Ministry of Education, is an experiential learning programme for the students of Class IX to XII. It aims to inspire the youth. The programme revolves around three fundamental themes: Who am I? What is our history and cultural heritage? and What can I do for my country?
