Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra, on Sunday organised its convocation and prize distribution function.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr Rajendra Vidyalankar, president of the managing committee. During the inaugural session, the first issue of the college annual report, “Yashaswini”, was unveiled.

Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja said the institution had received the NEP Implementation Award (Silver Category) from the HSHEC, Government of Haryana. She highlighted that the college secured 17 positions in the Kurukshetra University merit list in 2023-24 and 30 merit positions in 2024-25. She also noted that scholarships worth Rs 60 lakh had been distributed to 575 students through government and philanthropic sources, along with the establishment of a Skill Centre in collaboration with NIELIT.

A total of 128 prizes were awarded to students of the 2023-25 session in recognition of outstanding performances in academics, co-curricular activities and institutional contributions. Of these, 20 awards were presented under special categories, while 28 merit holders and 72 academic prize winners were honoured. Gurvinder Kaur was declared the best all-round student of both sessions.

A total of 297 degrees were conferred on graduate and postgraduate students across various disciplines.

The chief guest, Surendra Kumar Arya, Chancellor of Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, congratulated the awardees and graduating students and praised the institution’s commitment to educational excellence. He paid tribute to freedom fighter Kartar Singh Sarabha, an inspiration to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and renowned mountaineer Bachendri Pal on her birth anniversary.
