Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon members of the Kashmiri Pandit community to establish industries, academic institutions and cultural centres in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sinha was addressing the Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave in Srinagar, which witnessed participation from members of the community from across India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor said the conclave celebrated the community’s resilience and achievements while laying the foundation for its return to the Valley. “A moment of transformation is here. Those once uprooted from their homeland are returning, and this homecoming is the truest victory,” he said.

Sinha urged distinguished members of the community to set up industries and institutions in Jammu and Kashmir that would preserve their heritage and create opportunities for future generations.

He emphasised that the contribution of Kashmiri Pandits was needed across sectors including industry, education, arts and spirituality. “I believe the true measure of life lies in what we give back, in the hope we inspire and in the change we leave behind for society and the nation. That is the essence of meaningful service,” he said.

The L-G recalled the suffering endured by the community during the 1990s, when many families were forced to flee their homes and live in exile within their own country. “Today, I am proud that the Kashmiri Pandit community is celebrated for reaching new heights of success. The world recognises its talent, leadership and contributions to humanity,” he said.

Sinha said the conclave signalled the beginning of efforts to rebuild and revive the ancient legacy of the Kashmiri Pandit community. Discussions on creating industries, institutions and a shared economic future would serve as a roadmap for cultural revival, economic empowerment and community restoration.

The Lieutenant Governor said the community’s return reflected the transformation witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir after 2019.

“I often say history is written by those who rise again after suffering and adversity. Having earned global recognition, you are now returning to your roots. This dignified return is also the resolve of the Prime Minister. I salute your courage,” Sinha said.
