Former Leicester City winger Matt Piper says manager Brendan Rodgers isn't making the most of James Maddison.

Piper, who turned out 16 times for boyhood club Leicester between 2000 and 2002, has been disappointed not to see England boss Gareth Southgate give Maddison a regular role in the Three Lions midfield, but has criticised Rodgers' decision to force the ex-Norwich man out wide.

"Maddison has been Leicester's main man this season," he told Love Sport Radio.

"He's got a big future ahead of him, Maddison. He can become a top, top player.

"He's at his best as a number ten. He's been played out on the left this season, but that isn't how to use him.

"He's two footed, he's incredibly creative, and he's super talented. People ask whether he's arrogant, but I think it's just ultimate confidence in his ability, and he makes things happen."
