An NBA champion once famous for his fiery on-court temper has made a surprising request to Donald Trump, asking to be considered for a diplomatic role to help bring peace to the Middle East.
The former Los Angeles Lakers star shared the idea publicly on social media, suggesting his experience resolving conflicts could translate to international diplomacy.
The proposal quickly went viral as fans reacted to the unexpected career ambition.

Metta World Peace asks Donald Trump for Middle East ambassador role
Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace, previously known as Ron Artest, made the unusual request directly on social media, with a post on X showing the NBA champion publicly pitching himself for a diplomatic role involving Israel and Palestine.
The 2010 NBA champion suggested he believes he could play a role in improving communication in the region.
“I need to be U.S ambassador to Israel and Palestine. Whenever that job opens, I would like my name in the hat. I need to help the Middle East,” Artest wrote.
He added: “Communication is so off. I definitely have experience in squashing beefs. More experience than others.”
The message quickly drew attention online, partly because World Peace built a reputation during his playing career as one of the NBA’s most intense and emotional competitors.
