TAWAU: Police have arrested a 30-year-old labourer suspected of molesting a housewife during a break-in at Kampung Inderasabah earlier this week.

Tawau police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said initial findings showed the suspect had allegedly threatened the woman with a knife after entering her home in the early hours of Monday.

He said the man was detained by district Criminal Investigation Department officers at about 1.30pm the same day, leading to the seizure of a 27-centimetre knife believed to have been used in the incident.

The housewife had been sleeping with her two daughters when she awoke to someone touching her leg, prompting her to shout for help as the man warned her not to scream.

Jasmin said the suspect fled through the kitchen when her husband rushed out from another room, adding that the man has no prior criminal record and the case is being investigated under Sections 353 and 506 of the Penal Code.
