LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman said he is dismayed that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) had arranged for one-way flight tickets from peninsula to Sabah and Sarawak at a maximum of RM300, in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival and Hari Gawai, and omitted Labuan.
“Why is this so? Is Labuan not in East Malaysia? There are a few thousand KDM and Iban residents in Labuan with children or relatives in the peninsula and equally anxious as their Sabah and Sarawak counterparts to return here for the festivals,” he said.
“The Federal Government acknowledges the importance of these cultural celebrations and Kaamatan is a regional holiday here along with Sabah,” he added.
