LABUAN: Tourism Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY) campaign has started and is targeting some 35.6 million tourists next year by showcasing the attractions spread across the country.
However, Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman hoped these efforts to promote tourism in Labuan would not be “omitted”.
AdvertisementHe asked the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) what was the present and future planning for Labuan to have its own tourism product as the island’s prospects have not been promising ever since it was given away free by former Sabah Chief Minister to the Federal government and became a Federal Territory in 1984.
Suhaili said the Ministry allocated huge sums to improve and promote products to boost tourism – but still, Labuan’s economy is lagging.
