LABUAN: Shipping delay has triggered a sugar shortage here, disrupting the business of small-time traders such as cookies/cake makers and sellers of “goreng pisang” (banana fritters) and syrup, etc.
Bigger enterprises have not been as badly affected yet due to ample stocks purchased earlier, but it is not known for how long would these stocks last.
The situation has been prevailing for more than a week and the worse news is that the scenario may remain even until Hari Aidilaha, which falls on July 10.
