Labuan MCA chief returned as LPA Deputy Chairman

LABUAN: The MCA Chairman here Datuk Chin Hong Vui has been re-appointed for a third one-year term, expiring on July 8, 2023, as Deputy Chairman of the Labuan Port Authority (LPA) by the Transport Minister Dato Seri Wee Kah Siong in a simple ceremony.

Others retained were Datuk P Kamalanathan as Chairman and the three LPA members are Datuk Khalid A Ghani, Lee Wau Tung @ Lu Yen Tung and Abdullah Omar

In thanking the Minister, Chin said: “The LPA would continue to play an effective channel between the ministry and the Labuan port operator in boosting the activities of the port.

“A robust port is a sign of healthy economy and there were also signs that a bright future was ahead of on the port with the recent approvals of ship energy transshipment and barter trade.”

He noted that Labuan port was gifted with a large deep harbour and a alongside water depth of 28 ft. “Labuan port is also the preferred destination for idle vessels.”

He commended the port operator, Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd, for investing in improving the port infrastructure and services which is essential in attracting vessels to the port.
