LABUAN: The Director of the Duchess of Kent Hospital Sandakan, Dr Francis Paul, has been appointed Director of the Labuan Health Department, succeeding Dr Ismuni Bohari, who has been transferred to head the Perlis Health Department.
Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii, who a led six-member delegation to welcome and pay a courtesy call on Dr Francis, said:
“We are pleased that a senior medical officer with more than two decades of experience has been posted here.
“Being from Sabah, he (Dr Framcis) would be better able to understand the local situation due to the similarities in the social patterns of Sabah and Labuan,” he said.
Wong said the Chamber would render close co-operation to Dr Francis in implementing public health policies and programmes.
He hoped whatever decisions made by the department would be discussed and understood by the public as some decisions could impact the economy.
