PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced concern over the escalating war in West Asia, describing the continuing attacks on Iran as deeply troubling while criticising what he sees as a lack of a coordinated response from the Muslim world.
Speaking during a session with the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) community, Anwar said the latest developments demonstrate how fragmented the Islamic world remains when responding to major international crises.
“In the past week, the world has been shocked by strikes from Zionist and the against the nation. Of course this is deeply worrying for us and highlights a very clear weakness in the Muslim world — even in voicing a shared standpoint, we are barely able to do so, counted on one’s fingers,” he said.
He said the continuing strikes involving Israel and the United States against Iran should serve as a reminder to Muslim nations of the importance of strengthening unity when articulating a collective position on global issues.
At the same time, Anwar urged the public not to overlook the long-standing suffering of civilians in Gaza Strip and Palestine, saying the people there have endured years of violence and destruction.
According to the Prime Minister, the latest developments in West Asia should not overshadow the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians, which he described as a continuing tragedy.
The conflict in West Asia has now entered its sixth day, with reports indicating that the death toll in Iran has reached 1,045 people, while casualties elsewhere include 11 in Israel, six United States soldiers and nine people across several Gulf states. - March 5, 2026
