LAHAD DATU: The piles of rubbish in the Jalan Pantai area, which tarnish the district’s image and causes discomfort to the community, will be overcome soon.

District Council Vice Chairman Datuk Mizma Appehdullah said the coastal cleaning concession would start cleaning work in the middle of this month.

Mizma said the Council always paid attention to the problems and issues related to the district.

“We are aware of this matter, and discussions have already been held to find a solution.

“However, the public who have any questions or want more information on a matter can contact the Lahad Datu District Council (MDLD),” he said.

Mizma said, for a long-term solution, the garbage problem in this district requires cooperation from all quarters, including the community.

He said it is essential for every community member to play role to ensure that the district is litter-free.

“The best step is not to throw garbage everywhere and encourage recycling practices.

“The garbage problem in the district can be solved if we all work together without putting this responsibility solely on the authorities,” he said.

Recently, a social media user uploaded a photo of a pile of garbage in the Jalan Pantai area, which caused discomfort and affected the district’s image.
