LAHAD DATU: District deputy police chief Supt Jimmy Panyau died on Saturday while undergoing medical treatment for complications involving his liver and bile ducts.
The 53-year-old senior officer was pronounced dead at the Kuching Life Care Society in Sarawak at 9.30pm.
District police chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail confirmed the death, stating that Jimmy had initially undergone an MRI and examinations at Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu for loss of appetite and constipation, which detected a growth affecting his liver and bile ducts.
Jimmy received subsequent treatment at the Borneo Medical Centre in Kuching on Aug 14 and was later admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital’s Male Surgical Ward on Aug 20 for ongoing monitoring.
Dzulbaharin described the late deputy police chief as a dedicated officer throughout his service in Lahad Datu.
