LAHAD DATU: The Marine Police Force foiled an attempt to smuggled out controlled items at Taba Batang beach, here, Wednesday.

Lahad Datu Marine Commanding Officer, Superintendent Rohizan Mohamad Saaid said, while carrying surveillance task at the areas, the team spotted two men on a boat behaving in suspicious manner.

He said, the team approached the boat, but the two men jumped into the water and fled towards the mangrove areas.

Team members tried to track down the suspects but to no avail.

“The team seized the boat, both engines and the cooking oil worth RM33,345,” he said.

Rohizan said the assets and controlled items seized under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 were believed to be smuggled out to a neighboring country.

He added that all the seizures were taken to the Lahad Datu Marine base for further action.
