The tournament, organised together with Sambill Park, will be played on 23 and 24 July at the Kopa Arena in Penang, where more than 100 teams from five age groups will compete for the victory in a tournament in which their best player will also be able to travel to Spain and participate in one of the LaLiga Camps programmes.

Kuala Lumpur, 9th June 2022 – LaLiga and Sambill Park have presented, at the Sunway Velocity Mall in Kuala Lumpur, the second edition of the LaLiga Youth Tournament, to be held on 23 and 24 July at the Kopa Arena in Penang.

The tournament, which has the support of the Malaysian government through its Ministry of Education, will bring together more than a hundred teams in the U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 categories, from all the ASEAN countries.

Also during the event, LaLiga delegate in Malaysia, Adrian Prol, presented the new LaLiga grassroots programmes in Madrid: LaLiga Camps, LaLiga Academy and LaLiga Talents (https://www.laligagrassroots.com/en).

As well as fighting to become the champion of one of the most prestigious tournaments in local grassroots football, the best player of the tournament will also have the chance to attend one of the LaLiga Camps programmes in Madrid.

“LaLiga is proud to be able to contribute and participate directly in the development of grassroots football in Malaysia. We also believe that LaLiga Grassroots programmes, such as LaLiga Camps, can be very beneficial for young players who want to take a step further in their development. That is why we are convinced that the combination of both concepts, tournament in Malaysia and stay in Madrid, will serve to create new opportunities for the development of football here”, Adrian Prol, LaLiga’s delegate in Malaysia, said.

“LaLiga Youth Tournament will provide the real opportunity to many ASEAN footballer to experience the real football atmosphere with more than 8 countries representatives already joining the tournament in July. We offers not only the experience to the sports tourists, but also to offers them to witness our rich cultural and heritage as Penang is the top tourist destination in the world. The event, held in the Malaysian capital, counted with the presence, among others, by the Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Spain, Santiago Lozano, and the General Director of Tourism Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Hj. Zainuddin Abdul Wahab.
