The attacking midifelder is out with injury and could have played his last game for the club.
Mount is refusing to renew his deal at the Stamford Bridge club, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United linked with his signature.
Lampard was asked about Mount during a pre-match press conference, as his side takes on Man United on Thusrday.
He responded to reporters suggesting that it may be a lost cause to try and keep Mount: A lost cause? I don't know. That's not my answer to make. That's between Mason and the club."
The Blues are reportedly planning one last round of contract talks with Mount.
