
KOTA KINABALU: A landslide struck Kampung Kopungit on Sunday morning, damaging two houses but causing no casualties.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 8.12am, with a team from Kota Kinabalu fire station arriving within six minutes.
According to the village development and security committee, seven separate landslides have occurred in the area since Saturday.
A Mineral and Geoscience Department officer warned that the ground remains unstable and heavy rain could trigger further slides, posing risks to nearby residents.
Firefighters and other agencies have directed two families to move into the village hall, while monitoring and safety checks are ongoing.
