A driver on Jalan Kuching appears to have taken “finding another lane” a little too literally.
A dashcam video circulating online through the platform of XiaoHongShu, has caught a rather shocking moment when a car suddenly moves across the road and into what appears to be the opposite lane, leaving other motorists to deal with the unexpected manoeuvre.
The incident reportedly happened along Jalan Kuching during the evening, when traffic was already building up.
In the video, several vehicles can be seen travelling normally along the road when a grey MPV suddenly comes into view from the side. Instead of staying within its lane, the vehicle turns across the road and ends up facing traffic from the other direction.
For a few seconds, it looks less like a normal traffic situation and more like the driver has decided to create a shortcut of their own.
The original post was captioned jokingly in Chinese, roughly asking, “Not enough space in your lane?” before pointing out that the driver simply crossed over to the other side.
And judging from the comments, many viewers were just as stunned by the move.
Some joked about the driver's confidence, while others pointed out how dangerous the manoeuvre could have been, especially with multiple vehicles travelling through the area.
A wrong move in heavy traffic can leave other drivers with very little time to react. Even if the driver was trying to get around congestion or avoid an obstruction, suddenly entering another lane can easily turn into a much more serious situation.
For Malaysian drivers, the video is also a reminder that a few seconds saved on the road may not be worth the risk.
Sometimes, being stuck in traffic is frustrating.
But it is probably still better than deciding that the opposite lane is suddenly your lane too.
